Bill 32, the Restoring Balance in Alberta’s Workplaces Act

The Act supports economic recovery, restores balance in the workplace and gets Albertans back to work. The act provides employees and employers with clearer and more transparent rules promoting fairness and productivity, including rest periods and temporary layoff notices.

Bill 32 received royal assent on July 29, 2020 and was implemented in two phases. Phase one on August 15, 2020 and phase two on November 1, 2020. There are many key changes that came into effect for employees and employers.
