Lara is also the owner of Calgary’s only female-owned commercial construction company\, Ryan Murphy Construction. She is passionate about breaking barriers\, advancing opportunities for women and girls\, equity\, and inclusivity\, especially through community initiatives and her board work\, which has included the Calgary Chamber of Commerce\, YW Calgary\, Southern Alberta Institute of Technology\, and the Calgary Airport Authority. In 2022\, she was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal for community service.
