Women in business are constantly navigating what’s next - growing a business, stepping into leadership, taking a new opportunity, or simply figuring out what comes next. Our Women in Business series creates space to pause, connect, and hear from women who have taken their own bold steps forward. In the final BVCC Women in Business event of 2026, we're pleased to welcome Lara Murphy. Lara is co-founder, president, and CEO of the Calgary Wild FC, Alberta’s first women’s professional soccer team in Canada’s newly formed Northern Super League. Lara is also the owner of Calgary’s only female-owned commercial construction company, Ryan Murphy Construction. She is passionate about breaking barriers, advancing opportunities for women and girls, equity, and inclusivity, especially through community initiatives and her board work, which has included the Calgary Chamber of Commerce, YW Calgary, Southern Alberta Institute of Technology, and the Calgary Airport Authority. In 2022, she was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal for community service. In 2026, she was a Calgary Influential Women in Business Award recipient.   In her presentation, The Courage to Start, Lara Murphy shares the unexpected path that led her to entrepreneurship and professional sport, reflecting on the courage, resilience, and sense of belonging that have shaped her journey while inspiring others to think big and embrace bold new opportunities. For the woman building something, stepping into leadership, considering what’s next, or simply looking for a little inspiration, you belong in this room. Join us for an evening of connection, perspective, and a conversation that may leave you seeing your own possibilities a little differently.
